Pho Benny
About This Spot
Walking into Pho Benny, you’re welcomed by a calm and inviting ambiance that feels both spacious and thoughtfully arranged. The gentle hum of quiet conversations blends with the clatter of bowls and chopsticks, setting a relaxed rhythm perfect for sharing a meal or a reflective solo visit. Natural light filters through large windows opposite a familiar Trader Joe’s, casting a warm glow that softens the clean, simple decor and creates a comforting spot to pause in Lafayette’s busy neighborhood.
This is the kind of local eatery where the atmosphere lets you settle in slowly, where the staff greets you with genuine warmth, and where the pace invites you to savor the moment rather than rush through it. The friendly presence of owner Long, often seen welcoming guests, adds a sense of heartfelt hospitality that resonates in every corner.
The heart of the experience lies in the bowls and plates gently placed before you—each one a quiet celebration of Vietnamese flavors deeply familiar yet seasoned with care. Whether it’s the rich, fragrant broth of a classic pho or the satisfying textures of a vermicelli bowl stacked with fresh vegetables and grilled meats, the menu encourages exploration beyond the usual. There’s comfort in their dishes like slow-cooked beef stew with noodles, especially on colder evenings, and delight in the vibrant shrimp rolls or the unexpected appeal of their Bahn mi sandwich, lovingly crafted with fresh bread that makes a memorable impression in the East Bay.
Vegetarian options, too, hold their own, with thoughtfully curated tofu and vegetable preparations that accompany the pho and noodle dishes with just the right balance of spice and freshness. More than a meal, dining at Pho Benny feels like an invitation into a place thoughtfully connected to its community—where local flavors are a bridge to familiar memories and new culinary discoveries alike.

On a hot day I enjoy the Vermicelli Noodle Bowls like the #51! The Beef Stew with noodles and veggies really hit the spot on a cold, wet Winter Evening! I like the variety of foods on the menu.

Yes! Yes! Finally a sandwich that I actually like WITH fresh bread in the East Bay Area! The pho was also well done. This place does it right! We will be back to try other things if we’re revisiting this area again.

Staff was friendly. Got the pho dish. Alot of noodles. My husband got the dry noodle dish with shrimp and imperial rolls which was so good. We also got the tofu spring roll which I think we'll skip next time. Would definitely go back. Not a bad option for the area. Paid parking in the back.

For years, I wished for a pho place to open up in Lafayette. Pho Benny right opened up right before Covid opposite Trader Joe’s. Wide selection of delicious food, beautiful spacious spotlessly clean interior. Haven’t had a dish we didn’t like. Partner/owner, Long, is always there greeting you with a warm welcome and great service.

I'm visiting from Oregon and was looking for any Vietnamese food near Lafayette when I stumbled upon this amazing spot last night after a long drive. The pho broth is rich and the service was superb. I ended up coming back today for seconds and am writing this review with crumbs of the excellent chicken Bahn mi all over myself. I'll probably go again tomorrow. Would highly recommend their sandwiches and well done brisket pho -- if you're getting it to go like I did make sure you heat it in a pot at home to get the most out of this great food.
